Chinese director Zhuang Yuxin's debut feature film, Teeth of Love, enters Deauville Asian Film Festival competition. Teeth of Love tells the story of Qian Yehong, from teenage to a woman struggling with life and marriage. Zhuang Yuxin, who also teaches in Beijing Film Academy, has written screenplays for many television dramas before, but Teeth of Love is his first directing feature film. Zhuang said he chooses the time period from 1977 to 1987 when China underwent rapid social economic change but does not try to delibrately reflect the change of society.Another Chinese film, Zhang Yang's Getting Home is also going to participate in the competition. Getting Home, which stars a famous comedian Zhao Benshan, has already been released in mainland China and Hong Kong.
The 9th Deauville Asia Film Festival will be held in Deauville, France from 28 Mar to 1 Apr, 2007. The competition jury is headed by French director and screenwriter Benoit Jacquot. Dragon Tiger Gate and Dog Bite Dog will participate in Action Asia competition. The Fesitval will also show Silver Bear winning film Tuya's Marriage, Golden Lion winning Still Life, I Don't Want to Sleep Alone, The Go Master, A Battle of Wits, After This Our Exile, and Lost in Beijing.
