The results of the 37th Golden Horse Awards were announce on 2 December, 2000 in Taipei. Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon won the Best Film Award, along with other 5 awards. To many people's surprise, the Best Actor Award was given to Francis Ng for his role in The Mission, instead of the much more expected Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, who picked up the Best Actor Award in Cannes Film Festival. Director of The Mission, Johnnie To Kei-Fung also won the Best Director Award, beating Wong Kai-Wai and Ang Lee. Maggie Cheung Man-Yuk won the Best Actress Award for In the Mood for Love. This is her 4th Golden Horse Award.
