The 60th Locarno Film Festival shows two Edward Yang's films to pay tribute to the
recently deceased directors. The two films are Edward Yang's last film, A One and a Two
(2000), and his early work, Taipei Story (1985).
Taiwan director Hou Hsia-Hsien, who was in Taipei Story (1985), will have his latest film Le Voyage du Ballon Rouge shown in the festival. Chinese director Zhang Yuedong's Mid-afternoon Barks is in the Filmmakers of the Present competition. Another Chinese language feature film The Drummer starring Tony Leung Ka-Fai, Angelica Lee, and Jayce Chan, is directed by Kenneth Bi. A documentary directed by Zhao Liang, about a police station at China and North Korea border, Crime and Punishment, participates in the Here and Elsewhere section.
Chinese director Jia Zhangke is one of the International Juries. His film, Platform, is also being shown in the festival.
