About

I want to use the blog to not only discuss the development of Chinese Movie Database, but also the movie news that interests me, and my experiences of movie going, and perhaps other things.

I’ve been development Chinese Movie Database for more than 10 years which I guess is extermely long in the internet age. From a student’s hobby it has become a serious project and demands a lot of time from me. I’ve received many support and suggestion over the years, which I fully appreciate. As long as I’m still enjoying watching movie, I will keep developing this site.

I’m now living in Edinburgh, Scotland.

If you want to sponsor or support this project in any means, just drop me a line (info@dianying.com).

Having trouble working this properly, but will try again. I’m Dr. Wesley Britton, author of 3 books on films and espionage. I just re-discovered an old Entertainment Tonight with a little-known actor named Ron Cohen who claimed he played James Bond in a film made in and only available in China. It’s title, in the interview, was given as The Green Jade Mahjong but I can find nothing about it beyond this interview. It was apparently made between the time Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan played Bond as Dalton was the last actor listed in the introduction. Beyond the anecdotes in the ET interview, that’s all I can find. So any information would be helpful. Feel free to post this on your blog or forward to folks who might know more.

    Thanks Wes Britton

The closest one I can think of is The Mahjong Incident (1987) http://www.dianying.com/en/title/fcm1987/

I haven’t seen this film. Based on the synopsis, this is a detective/thrill film about tracing a set of valuable jade mahjong. I can’t see how James Bond could involve in this though.

    Mr. Lu:

I saw a movie when I was a very young girl and remembered the movie to go something like this: about 5 children, classmates in a school were playing interacting together in school. One of them was a bully and another boy a nice one who intercedes in behalf of other kids. During the course of school, they were sent home because of a storm. there was amssive flooding and the kids had to walk home and eventually the good boy drowns in his attempt to save his frineds including the bully , all the kids cry and have to deal with the tragedy.

I was wondering if you know the title of this movie and how I can get a copy of it. Thanks for your help.

Anyone knows any information about a Chinese film about a Judge, in Pre- Revolutionary China in a remote village, whose ways clash with Mao’s new rules. It was made in 2006 or 2007. I’d really appreciate ANY info on this film! Thanks! Luis in Panama
