The Legend of the Condor Heroes (She Diao Ying Xiong Zhuan, 射雕英雄传) is arguably the most famous martial arts novel. This is the first part of the Condor Heroes triology, an epic martial arts story set in the period from Nan Song, Yuan to the beginning of Ming Dynasty. As soon as its newspaper serialization finished in 1959, the first movie based on it was made. However, the complex of the plot and its numerous characters mean it's best suitable for TV series adaptaton. The most famous ones are TVB's 1983 The Legend of Condor Heroes part 1-3 starring Wong Yat-Wah and Barbara Yung.
