THOUSANDS lined the streets around the Longhua Funeral Home yesterday to pay their last respects to Sun Daolin, the famous Chinese actor-director.Mourners including family members, friends, fellow artists and fans began arriving at 9am to view his body. Government officials including Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng and Mayor Han Zheng conveyed their condolences to Sun's family.
Sun died of heart disease on December 28 in Shanghai's Huadong Hospital.
Born on December 18, 1921, in Beijing, Sun was especially famous for the generation now in their 50s and 60s. He made his screen debut in 1948 in "Big Reunion" and featured in more than 100 movies over his 57-year career. Some of his most famous films were "Early Spring in February," "Radio Never Faded" and "The Family."
